Tonkotsu King - by Keisuke

I'm not really sure if anyone even reads blogs nowadays..
But here am I, back once again to find a way to distract myself. HAHA

Today I'll be reviewing Tonkotsu King by Keisuke. (for the ramen lovers)
First thing they offered us when we went into the shop was a small bowl of sesame seeds for you to.. crush and grind (?)
After which, you add the little bits into the ramen. This is definitely not going to make your ramen taste 10x better, but it's fun I guess.. LOL
Smash them sesame seeds

We ordered the Red Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen Special at around $15.90.
The "Special" one came with all the toppings. Comparing that to a regular bowl priced at $10.90 to $11.90, you get:
- 2 more pieces of chasu (super worth it)
- A flavoured egg (not Ajisen egg, fuck you Ajisen)
- 1 or 2 pieces of black fungus LOL

Ramen came in a very nice presentation. Veli good.

But if you're an average eater (like me HAHAHA), you definitely won't have an issue finishing up the special ramen. It's also a lot more worth it!

The noodles had a really good consistency, although I personally felt that it lacked flavour. If you like regular soup based ramen (compared to strong/mildly strong soup base), I don't think you'll find the noodles bad at all. I just prefer my noodles a little more... flavourful :D

The tonkotsu broth was pretty good. You are also able to select the "gao-ness" of the soup base (weak, normal or stronk) from the order chit, which was pretty cool. I got the normal one, and will definitely be back to try the strong soup base next time. :D

The chasu. The chasu. The BEST thing in the bowl. The meat wasn't too soft or too hard, and the taste melts in your mouth flawlessly. One is able to taste the porky goodness of the chasu from the first bite. Not even fucking shitting you guys. If pigs are dying to make chasu, all of them should taste this good (yeah fuck you Ajisen).

If you had Ichiran Ramen before, this is probably the closest you can get in Singapore.. I think??

I KNOW MANY OF YOU are particular about your eggs.. Don't worry this one is not trash. HAHAHA
IT'S A LAVA EGG GUYS

One last thing to highlight though.. The store itself was a little hot LOL. Not sure if the air con was faulty or that was part of the... authentic Japanese experience??? Do Japanese people eat their food in heat? HAHA

Overall, it was a great meal and an excellent value for money. At less than 20 bucks, you can fill your belly up with good ramen and delicate chasu. This store is RECOMMENDED by thehungrywolves.

Hungry Wolf Rating: 8/10
